Race for the Cure
I have come to realize that Cameron does not have a competitive bone in his body. My MOMS Club had a team for Race for the Cure this year, so I decided to participate. We signed up for the 5K run/walk. Cameron decided to sign up with me. I thought it would be great for us to do this together. Now, going in I knew he wouldn't be able to run the whole thing, so I figured there would be some walking. We started off running, then after maybe 1 K, if that, he "couldn't feel his legs." So, we walked. After awhile I thought, he's had enough rest, maybe we could run again. We ran a few more steps and he had to walk. Now, I am a very competitive person. While I knew that I was not in good enough shape to do that well running, I still wanted to run. I don't enjoy getting passed when I'm running, let alone walking. So, I had to swallow my pride and remember why we were doing this in the first place. It ended up being quite enjoyable walking with my son and talking. He forgot how tired he was, and I forgot (kind of) how much I wanted to run instead. It was even his idea to run the last little bit of the race. I got my son to walk 3 miles, so that's a victory in itself.

at least you finished it together. Maybe next year you can talk him into running it with you.
