In Oklahoma schools, they reinact the land run. If you've seen the movie "Far and Away" with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, that's what it was. Chantz got to participate in it last Friday. They dress up in clothing of the era and make wagons then when the teacher gives the signal, they run as fast as they can to claim their land. After they get their land they have a little picnic lunch with their "families."

I'm pretty sure they didn't have this kind of tent back then. It was so windy that day, the kids had to sit in it so it wouldn't blow away.

I love the land run!! When I was little the whole school did it, and I loved doing it with my students when I taught. The year I lived in MN, I was so sad on April 22 because they obviously didn't do land runs that day.
Hope he had fun and got a good plot of land!!
