It kinda surprised me when Chantz decided he wanted to run cross country this year instead of playing football. The 6th grade football season is pretty short, so I told him soccer or cross country might be better since they had a longer season. I was pretty excited when he decided to run. He had his first meet yesterday. Mike had the day off so the whole family was able to drive to Thief River Falls to watch him run.

Passing one of the girls on his team...okay, she was walking, but he looks so determined!
This was at the finish. I almost missed him because I could only see the girls at first. I asked him if he just sped up so he could beat the girls. His reply, "no, I just wanted to finish." He doesn't really have my competitive streak, but I'm so proud of him! I cried a little (okay, I was bawling) when he crossed the finish line. :)
