Yesterday was kind of a bad day for Jaycee. She was super cranky and didn't behave well even at gymnastics, which she loves. We had Chantz's soccer end of season party last night at a local park, but she didn't really get much time to play after wards because she had to use the bathroom. After about 20 minutes of trying to coerce the girl into the car, I promised her we could have a park date today after school.
I brought her home and we packed a picnic lunch. We had to go to the library anyway, so I convinced her we could have a picnic at the little park next to the library. It's not really a play park. It's just got a statue of Shannon Miller and a little pavilion. But it's clean and well kept. We took a blanket and spread it out and ate our lunch. At first she was a little upset that we weren't at a play park, but I showed her the statue and explained to her that it was a gymnastics girl and that made everything okay. She had all sorts of questions about Shannon Miller like how old she was, if she was the best gymnastics girl, how many Olympics she was in, etc. I told her we could look her up on the computer when we got home. It was a little windy, and not nearly as warm as yesterday, but we really had a good time just the two of us.
After lunch, we put our blanket in the car and went to the library. Jaycee did her usual practice, she picked out two DVDs and then went through the book shelves to find all the pink books. She doesn't care what they are, as long as they are pink. She wanted me to read to her at the library. I convinced her that we could find an easy book and she should read it to me. I found a book that wouldn't be too difficult for her and she read to me. I only had to help her with a couple of words. She's getting so good at recognizing words! I was so proud of my little lady.
It was the best Library Picnic Park Date(her description) ever!
